An organic abstraction of the poetics that govern the structures of atoms and galaxies alike. The ornamental dignity of the quantum and the stellar is presented with an opulence of palace colors. Gold, ruby, turquoise, and dusty pinks flow like satin scales under water. Layers woven upon layers of protean discs dance in a kinetic vortex, metamorphosing, cascading down and bubbling up in cycles of collapse and renewal. This is one of the foundational pieces in the artist’s innovative opus of “high-pressure paintings” that move oil paint with blasts of air from an industrial air compressor. She carefully controls the chaotics of the pops of air to make these unique marks in the moments before the paint dries.
